College website design built around the courses

I design college and institute websites where the courses are the centre of the site, not an afterthought. Students find their course in two taps, read the facts they need on a phone and know exactly how to apply, while each department keeps its own section current.

  1. Courses first

A courses menu grouped the way students think: by level, then by subject, each leading to a course page.

  2. Admissions

Open admissions shown on every page during the season, with dates, process and the way to apply.

  3. Departments

A section per department with its staff, its courses and its own notices.

  4. About and approvals

History, affiliation, approvals, accreditation and the documents that prove them.

  5. Student life and notices

Hostels, library, transport, committees, exam notices and results.

Every course page answers six questions

Can I apply?

Eligibility, minimum marks, age limits and any entrance test.

How long is it?

Duration, semesters, timings and whether it can be studied part time.

What does it cost?

Fees per year or semester, other charges and scholarships available.

What will I learn?

A short syllabus outline and how the course is taught and assessed.

Is it recognised?

The affiliating university and any approval that applies to this course.

Where does it lead?

Further study and the kinds of work graduates go on to.

Serious, without being dull

A college website has to look credible to parents and still feel alive to students. I use real photos of your campus and students (with permission), a calm layout with plenty of space, and type that reads easily on small screens. Decorative extras that slow the site down are left out.

The structure is planned for college SEO from the start, with each course on its own address, and for accessibility, so students with visual impairments can use it with a screen reader.

Questions about college website design

Can the prospectus still be a PDF?

Yes, as a download for people who want it. But every fact in it, such as eligibility, fees and dates, should also be on the course pages as text, because a PDF is hard to read on a phone and Google reads it less reliably than a web page.

How is the faculty list kept up to date?

Each department gets its own login to edit its staff list, with a simple form for name, qualification, designation and a photo. The office can review changes before they go live if you prefer.

Can students apply online?

Yes. An application form can collect details and documents and send them securely to the admissions office, or the site can link to the admissions portal your university or board uses.

Want a college site students can actually use?

Send me your course list and your current website. I'll show you how the course pages and admissions would work, with the price.
