Ski schools and guides
Course pages by level and length, private guiding, gear hire and a clear note on when the snow usually arrives and when lessons stop.
I build websites, do the SEO and set up Google Maps listings for businesses in Gulmarg, Baramulla district, Jammu & Kashmir. I work from Kalantra Payeen in the same district, so I know how a Gulmarg season runs and how visitors plan around it.
Whether it's a ski school, a hotel or a tour company, these come up on every Gulmarg project.
Winter belongs to skiing and snowboarding. In summer the same meadows bring families for pony rides, treks and the Gondola. I lay out the home page so whichever season you're selling sits at the top, and swapping them over is a quick edit.
Visitors plan their day around it, so say whether a package includes tickets and for which phase: Phase 1 to Kongdoori, or Phase 2 on up towards Apharwat. It also helps to say what happens to the day if the Gondola is shut for weather.
A ski school site should list what you hire out, from skis and boards to boots and jackets, and who does the teaching. Beginners book faster when each course says how many days it runs and what level it starts from.
Addresses here read Main Market, Forest Block, near the Gondola or near the temple, so a lot of businesses share a handful of landmarks. Your Google Maps pin has to sit on your own door, and your site should name a landmark visitors can actually see.
If your counter closes between seasons, mark it with special hours on your Google Business Profile instead of leaving visitors to guess. Reopen the hours before bookings start, and add fresh photos so it's clear someone is looking after the listing.
Many ski guests book from other states or abroad, weeks before they arrive, and compare a few Gulmarg operators on their phones. They decide on packages that state the length and what's included, with WhatsApp close by. More on websites for travel businesses.
Send me your website and your Google Maps link before the snow arrives. I'll tell you what to update for winter and what the work would cost.
The same town, very different websites.
Course pages by level and length, private guiding, gear hire and a clear note on when the snow usually arrives and when lessons stop.
Rooms with real photos, the distance to the Gondola, winter heating and road access, and a direct way to enquire that doesn't go through a booking site.
Packages with the length in the name, day trips from Srinagar, and pickup points stated plainly, so a guest knows where the day begins.
A menu people can read on a phone, opening hours that change with the season, and directions from the places visitors already know.
It is the question every Gulmarg operator asks, and both answers work. If your trips are short and alike, one packages page with a WhatsApp link beside each lets visitors compare them without opening a dozen tabs. If you sell a few distinct things, such as a week of ski lessons, a luxury ski package and a Gondola day trip, a page for each lets every buyer read only what applies to them, and gives Google a separate page to show for each search.
What doesn't work is a page that mixes everything with no lengths, no prices and no way to ask a question. Whichever layout you choose, put the length in the package name, say what is included and keep the enquiry button next to the price.
Plenty of Gulmarg trips are sold from lower down the valley, from Tangmarg, Druroo and Kunzer. A business there sells the same snow as one on Main Market, but its Google listing has to show its real address.
That leaves the website to carry the Gulmarg pages, with a clear note on where guests are collected and how the drive up works. The SEO side is mostly about those pages, and the local SEO side is about making the listing honest and complete where you really are.
Yes. Ski schools, guides, hotels, tour operators and restaurants in and around Gulmarg are exactly the kind of business I build for, and some of the sites in my portfolio are from here. I work from Kalantra Payeen in the same district, so I can meet you if that helps.
Move your summer trips, treks and Gondola day packages to the top of the home page and take down winter dates that have passed. On Google Maps, update your hours and add summer photos, so the listing doesn't look like a winter-only business.
Often it isn't, because many businesses share those addresses. The pin has to sit on your own door, and your site should mention a landmark visitors can see, such as the Gondola base. I check both when I set up or fix a listing.
Yes. Businesses on the road up sell the same Gulmarg trips, so they need the same kind of package pages, but their Google listing has to show their real address lower down the valley.
Search tools do sometimes mix the two names up. On every Gulmarg site I write the district and state in the address and the structured data, so Google has no doubt which place you mean.
Tell me what you sell in winter and in summer, and send your Google Maps link. I'll reply myself with what your site and listing need before the next season.
