Websites for colleges that students can actually use

I build websites for colleges, institutes and training centres with what students and parents look for first: the courses, who can apply, what it costs, when admissions open and whether the qualification is recognised. Then I make each course findable on Google.

What a college site needs

  • A page for every course
  • Eligibility, duration and fees
  • Admissions dates and process
  • Approvals and accreditation
  • Notices departments can post

How students choose a college online

A student starts with a course and a place: a B.Com in their city, a nursing course nearby, a diploma they can do while working. They compare the colleges that offer it, often on a phone and often with a parent looking over their shoulder. What they want first is plain: am I eligible, how long is it, what does it cost, when do I apply and is it recognised.

College websites often bury those answers under a principal's message, a vision statement and a gallery of events. The facts end up in a PDF prospectus that doesn't open on a phone. I put the course facts on the course page, in text, where both the student and Google can read them.

What I build into a college website

Course pages

Duration, eligibility, seats if you publish them, fees, syllabus outline, mode of study and where the course leads.

Admissions

Dates, the process, entrance tests if any, documents, scholarships and a way to ask questions or apply.

Approvals

Affiliation, approvals and accreditation with reference numbers and links to the documents.

Faculty and departments

Each department with its staff, qualifications and the courses it teaches.

Notices and results

Exam notices, timetables and results, posted by the departments that own them.

Campus and student life

Hostels, library, labs, transport and the committees students need to know about.

Admissions season close?

Send me your course list and your current website. I'll tell you which pages students will look for and how long they would take to build.

Required information

Many regulators and affiliating bodies expect certain information on an institution's website: mandatory disclosures, grievance and anti-ragging contacts, fee details and committee members among them. The exact list depends on your type of institution and who approves it, and it changes from time to time.

I build a clear place for each of these, linked from the footer, and I work from the circulars and documents you are bound by rather than guessing. When the rules change, the pages can be updated in one place.

Questions colleges ask me

Does every course need its own page?

Yes. Students search for a course, not for your college's name, and each course has its own eligibility, duration, fees and career path. A page per course gives them those answers and gives Google a page to show for each course search.

What should a college show about approvals and affiliation?

Your affiliating university, approvals such as UGC or AICTE where they apply, accreditation like NAAC with its grade and validity, and the reference numbers. Show only what you actually hold and link to the documents. Students and parents check these, and regulators may require some of them on the site.

Can departments post their own notices?

Yes. On WordPress, each department can have its own logins and post notices, events and results in its own section, while the office controls what appears on the home page. Admission notices can be pinned to the top during the admission season.

Can a college publish placement figures?

Only figures you can back up, with the year and how they were counted. Inflated placement claims are easy to spot and damage trust. If you don't track placements carefully, it is better to name the employers and roles your students have gone on to, with their consent.

Want more students to find your courses?

Send me your course list, your current site and when admissions open. I'll reply with what I'd build first and the price.
