Google Business Profile for hotels

For many guests, your hotel's Google listing is the first thing they see: the photos, the reviews, the price and the location on the map, all before they reach a website. I set it up and keep it accurate, so it sells the hotel as well as your best receptionist would.

What I set up on a hotel listing

Category and details

The right lodging category, check-in and check-out times, and your star classification if you hold one.

Amenities

Wi-Fi, parking, restaurant, heating, accessibility and the rest, marked accurately so guests filtering for them find you.

Photos

Exterior so guests recognise the building, every room type, the dining area and the view, taken recently.

The pin

On your entrance, not the middle of the road, with directions that work for a driver arriving at night.

Booking links

Your own booking engine connected where your provider supports it, so your rate appears beside the booking sites.

Reviews

A simple way to ask every guest at check-out, and replies that show how you treat people.

Problems I fix on hotel listings

Duplicate listings

Hotels often end up with two or three listings: one created by a previous owner, one by a guest, one with an old name. They split your reviews and confuse guests. I find them and merge or close them through Google's own process.

Keyword-stuffed names

A listing called "Hotel X Best Luxury Hotel Near Lake" breaks Google's rules and can be suspended. The name should match your signboard. Rooms, views and luxury belong in the description, photos and amenities.

Old photos and wrong hours

Photos from before a renovation, a restaurant that closed or reception hours that changed all cost bookings. I update them and show you how to keep them current.

Questions about hotel listings

Why does my hotel listing show a different price to mine?

Google shows prices it receives from booking sites and, if you are connected, from your own booking engine. If only the booking sites send prices, only their prices appear. Connecting your booking engine to Google lets your own rate appear beside them.

Can guests' photos be removed?

You can report photos that break Google's policies, such as ones that are offensive or show a different place. You can't remove a photo just because you don't like it. The answer is to add plenty of good, recent photos of your own so they are the ones people see.

Should I reply to every review?

Yes, briefly and personally, good and bad. A calm, specific reply to a complaint often does more for the next guest's confidence than the complaint did damage. Never offer anything in return for changing a review.

Is your hotel's Google listing working for you?

Send me your Google Maps link. I'll check the category, amenities, photos, pin and reviews and tell you what I'd change first.
