SEO for resorts people choose for a reason

Guests rarely search for "a resort". They search for a weekend getaway near their city, a family holiday with a pool, a wedding venue in the hills or a resort near a place they want to visit. I build and tune pages for those searches, and connect them to a Google listing that backs them up.

Searches and the pages that answer them

How I map typical resort searches to pages.
Search typePage that answers it
Weekend getaway near a cityA short-break package page that names the city, the drive time and the route
Wedding or event venue in your areaA weddings page with capacities, spaces and real event photos
Resort with a specific featureThe experience or facility page, with that feature in its title
Things to do near the resortA local guide written for guests, by season
Your resort's name plus reviews or priceYour Google listing and your home page, with matching details

What the SEO work covers

Structured data

Resort and lodging markup with your address, amenities and check-in times, plus event details for venues.

Page titles and copy

A clear title and description for every package and experience, written for the person searching.

Speed

Big photos and video kept light enough for mobile data, because slow pages lose guests and rankings alike.

Reporting

Search Console data on which searches bring guests, shared with you in plain words. See analytics setup.

Timing SEO to the season

A page about winter stays published in December is too late for most guests, who planned in the autumn. I publish and update seasonal pages well ahead, so Google has crawled them by the time people start searching.

The same goes for your listing: winter photos and hours should be on your Google Business Profile before the first winter enquiries, not after. And when the season ends, the pages stay up for next year rather than being deleted, so the ranking they earned isn't thrown away. For the site itself, see resort website design.

Questions about SEO for resorts

Which searches should a resort aim for?

The ones where your resort is a genuinely good answer: a getaway type near a city, an experience you offer, a wedding venue in your area, or your region plus something specific like a pool or mountain views. Broad searches like resorts in a country are dominated by travel sites and rarely worth chasing first.

Should weddings have their own page?

Yes. Couples and planners search for wedding venues separately from holidays, and they need different information. A dedicated page with capacities, spaces, photos from real events and an enquiry form can be found for those searches and handles the leads properly.

How long before SEO shows results for a resort?

Fixes and new pages can start showing within weeks once Google has crawled them, but competitive searches take months. Because resort bookings are seasonal, start the work well before the season you want to fill.
